Shot & Sand Blasting Plant & Machinery Solutions
Shot and sand blasting prepares metal surfaces by propelling steel shot, grit or sand against them to strip scale, rust and old paint before coating. Blast rooms and cabinets create heavy dust, and the abrasive itself is recovered, separated from fines and used again.
Complete Shot & Sand Blast Process Flow
Castings, fabricated assemblies, pipes or structural sections are moved into the blast cabinet, tumble machine or blast room. Parts are placed so the blast stream can reach every face that has to be cleaned.
Abrasive is thrown against the surface by a wheel or driven through a nozzle by compressed air. Scale, rust and old coating break away and leave the profile the paint system needs.
Spent abrasive falls to the floor hopper and is lifted back to the storage hopper. Broken abrasive, scale and blast debris are separated out so only usable media is recirculated.
Dust drawn off the blast enclosure and the recovery circuit is collected before the air is released. Blast dust is fine and abrasive, and is drawn from both the enclosure and the abrasive recovery circuit.
Air is changed through the blast room so the operator has visibility and the enclosure stays under draught. Moisture in the supply air is controlled, since blasted steel is left bare until it is coated.
Blasted parts go straight to priming, painting or metallising while the surface is still clean. Booth exhaust carrying paint mist and solvent is treated, and coated parts are dried before handling.
