O-ring manufacturing moulds precision elastomer rings from compound preforms, removes the flash left at the mould parting line, post-cures the rings to drive off residues, and inspects each ring for dimensional and surface defects.
Complete O-Ring Process Flow
Elastomer compound is mixed and formed into cord or slug preforms matched to the cross-section being moulded. Preform accuracy is what keeps the mould cavities filling without excess flash.
Preforms are cured in multi-cavity moulds, served by the plant heating, chilled water and control systems.
Rings are separated from the mould sprue and tumbled so the thin flash breaks away cleanly. The rubber fines released during tumbling are drawn off and collected.
Rings are held in circulating hot air to complete the cure and drive off volatile residues. Oven exhaust is ducted away rather than released into the shop.
Each ring is examined for cuts, inclusions, flash witness and dimensional faults, and sorted by result.
Accepted rings are counted into pouches by size and material, sealed, labelled and cartoned.
