Newspaper Printing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Newspaper production runs newsprint reels through printing and folding, after which copies are counted, stacked, bundled and loaded for distribution the same night. The plant also handles reel storage and movement, trim and paper dust from the folder, and the baling of unsold returns and waste newsprint for recycling.
Complete Newspaper Process Flow
Reels are held in the reel hall and moved to the press reel stands as each edition is prepared. Reels are heavy and awkward, so they are shifted on powered handling and lifting equipment.
The web runs through the press and into the folder, where copies are cut, folded and delivered. Paper dust and web trim released at the folder are extracted, and the press hall air is handled so dust and ink mist do not carry back to the printing units.
Copies leaving the folder are counted into route quantities and stacked. Each stack is compressed and strapped, and the bundle is labelled with its route before it leaves the mailroom.
Finished bundles are carried to the loading bay and loaded into vehicles route by route.
Unsold copies, plate-change waste and web breaks come back to the plant. This paper is broken up and baled for sale to recyclers, with the collection ducting vented through a dust collector.
