Copra Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Copra is the dried kernel of the mature coconut and the main raw material for coconut oil milling. Coconuts are dehusked and split, the kernel is dried in kilns or hot-air dryers until the moisture is stable, then scooped from the shell, cleaned and graded.
Complete Copra Water Process Flow
Mature nuts are dehusked and then split so that the nut water drains away and both halves can be dried in shell. Split nuts are carried cup upwards to the dryer so that the kernel does not fall out in transit.
Split nuts are dried with indirect hot air in place of open smoke drying, which keeps soot and smoke taint off the kernel. Trays or batches are rotated through the dryer so that drying is even across the load.
Part-dried kernel shrinks away from the shell and is scooped out as cup copra, with the shell separated for charcoal or fuel. Shell fragments are removed from the copra stream before the second drying pass.
Scooped copra is given a second drying pass so that moisture is brought down to a level at which it can be stored without mould. Moisture is checked on the finished copra before it is released to the grading line.
Dried copra is cleaned of dust, fibre and shell, then graded by size and colour, with discoloured or mouldy pieces taken out. Grading matters because oil millers buy copra against colour and moisture.
Graded copra is elevated into silos or bins for holding, then drawn off for bagging as orders are made up. Sacks are stitched, checkweighed and palletised for despatch to the oil mill.
