Conveyor belt manufacturing coats fabric plies or steel cord with rubber on a calender, lays the coated plies and cover sheets into a carcass, and vulcanises the assembly in a heated press so covers and carcass bond into one belt.

How it works

Complete Conveyor Belt Process Flow

Compound & Fabric Preparation

Cover and skim compounds are mixed from rubber, fillers and curing chemicals, while fabric or steel cord is creeled ready for coating. Filler intake is enclosed and vented so carbon black does not reach the fabric store.

Calendering & Ply Coating

Rubber is rolled onto the fabric plies or steel cord, and solvent cement applied at this stage is dried before winding. Solvent vapour from the cement application is extracted along the line.

Belt Building

Coated plies and top and bottom cover sheets are laid up in sequence to the specified belt construction. Heavy rolls and long lay-up lengths are moved mechanically rather than manhandled.

Press Vulcanising & Utilities

The built belt is vulcanised in heated platens in successive lengths, drawing on the plant steam, thermic fluid and cooling water circuits.

Trimming, Cooling & Winding

Belt edges are trimmed to width, the belt is cooled under tension and wound into rolls. Edge trim is collected and size-reduced instead of accumulating beside the press.

Roll Handling & Despatch

Finished rolls are lifted, marked with belt type and length details, wrapped and loaded for despatch.
