Chiller Units for Cold Room, Kitchen and Process Cooling

The loads to be served are listed first, since a kitchen, a cold room and a process line each ask for a different supply temperature. Water or a suitable secondary fluid is chosen along with the pipe circuit that will carry it.

The compressor, condenser, evaporator and associated fittings are assembled onto a common frame. Assembling the unit as a skid leaves the site work to services and final connections.

Heat drawn out of the load is discharged either directly to air or through a cooling tower circuit. Where a tower is used, the condenser water loop and its make-up storage are set up alongside the chiller.

Chilled fluid is piped to the equipment it serves, from cold rooms and cooling tunnels to jacketed vessels and cooling conveyors. Line sizing and insulation are worked out branch by branch across the circuit.

Start sequence, set points and trip conditions are configured in the panel supplied with the unit. Flow and pressure interlocks are wired into the trip logic, and the unit can be linked to a wider plant control system.

The unit is placed, connected, charged and run through trials with the served loads live. Operating and service instructions are handed over together with the spares list.
