Fittings are blast-cleaned, degreased, rinsed and dried, then coated with primer and bonding agent. Blast dust and solvent vapour are extracted separately, because a contaminated metal face is the usual cause of a failed bond.

Rubber compound is mixed to the required grade, milled into sheet and cut into preforms sized for the mount being made.

Prepared fittings and preforms are loaded into the mould, where the rubber cures and bonds to the metal in a single operation. Press heating, hot air post-cure and chilled water are served by the plant utility circuits.

Flash is removed from the rubber-to-metal junction and exposed metal surfaces are cleaned up. Rubber and metal dust from finishing are collected at source.

Mounts are checked for bond integrity, rubber condition and dimensions, and non-conforming parts are separated.

Threads and metal faces are protected, parts are coded by part number and packed into cartons for despatch.
