Aluminium Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Aluminium processing covers sorting and melting scrap and ingot, casting billets, extruding or rolling sections and sheet, and finishing the surface by anodising or coating. Aluminium melting releases furnace fume, and grinding and polishing produce fine reactive dust that is collected wet rather than dry.
Complete Aluminium Process Flow
Aluminium scrap, extrusion offcuts and ingot are sorted, with steel and other contaminants taken out. Loose and bulky scrap is compacted so it can be charged into the furnace.
The charge is melted in a reverberatory or crucible furnace and treated with flux before casting. Furnace fume and flux gases are hooded, treated and collected before discharge.
Molten aluminium is cast into billets, ingots or slabs and cooled with a water circuit. Cast stock is moved out of the casting bay once it has cooled enough to handle.
Billets are heated and pressed through a die to form sections, or slabs are rolled down into sheet, coil and foil. Extruded and rolled stock is cooled along the run-out table before it is cut and stacked.
Profiles and sheet are degreased, etched, anodised or powder coated, then rinsed and dried. Air from the treatment line and the coating oven is cleaned before it leaves the plant.
Cut ends are dressed and surfaces are buffed or polished where a bright finish is wanted. Aluminium fines are reactive, so this dust is kept separate from other collection circuits and taken out wet.
